THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF LINCOLN UNIVERSITY |
We stand united together in our thoughts and prayers for our fallen Lion and his family, and for those who were injured and impacted by this tragic event. We honor his life and pray for his friends and loved ones. We pray for our Lincoln University students, staff, leadership, and alumni family. Whenever loss of a loved one comes it brings pain and grief. Unfortunately, life is unexpected, which means sorrow and death can come at any time and at any place. While there’s no way for us to prepare for these terrible events, in our mourning, God’s presence can guide us and bring us comfort, strength, and peace to help us heal over time. God will never abandon us during our times of sorrow. Instead, He will always provide us with His love and hope. During these most painful moments, it’s important to turn to friends, family, and faith for support. We are grateful to have each other to pray with and to lean on with God forever by our side. Because He sees and knows our sorrows and pain, let us place our faith and trust in God, allowing ourselves to feel our emotions, and giving ourselves time to process. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 God comforts us in all our pains and burdens, so that we can likewise comfort, encourage and strengthen each other with the comfort we received from God. Let us all come together, both near and far, to pray for peace on our campus and for an end to violence everywhere. We are lifting up in prayer all families and loved ones who are grieving and coping from loss of life due to violence. |
On January 9, 2022, the National Alumni Association held an hour prayer service where several pastors, chaplains, ministers, and spiritual leaders prayed for petitions, prayer requests and for departed loved ones. All were warmly invited. LU Alumni, family, friends, visiting chaplains, and LU staff attended the service. Love, prayer, and a guest show of the Lincoln University Gospel Choir. The program was brought to the community by the AALU Chaplain, Michael J. Canty and Program Chair, Dawn Easter McCoy.
